Aerolens optics are designed to suppress turbulence and control the extent of ion diffusion at intermediate pressure. Laminarization of the supersonic jet in API interfaces enhances ion transmission and extends the operating pressure range of conventional ion funnel optics. Enlarged inlet openings can be employed leading to improved sampling efficiency.
